Hey Guys!!
I hope you guys are having an amazing summer!
Today I wanted to talk about something I have recently been reflecting on and I thought maybe a few of you would find this useful especially if you are going through tough times.
These are my opinions of keys to a better and healthier life, I feel that as you grow older and you begin to understand these much clearer, you begin to live a better, happier version of yourself.
Patience
This can be defined as the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious.
In life I believe that patience is key, a lot of great things take time to happen and only through patience can you reap the full benefits. As each year comes by I learn to be more patient with everything I do or am expecting, when you are not patient it may ultimately lead to burnout, paranoia, insomnia, and even stress.
Tip: During stages I feel stressed I find it useful to meditate or occupy my mind with something else.
“Never cut a tree down in the wintertime. Never make a negative decision in the low time. Never make your most important decisions when you are in your worst moods. Wait. Be patient. The storm will pass. The spring will come”
Optimism
Optimism is simply the hopefulness and confidence about the future or the success of something.
This is one that I feel very much about, when I was much younger I was never optimistic about anything and I spent my days angry and down about pretty much anything and as each year came by after that phase I became more optimistic about everything and from practicing that I find a lot of good and happy outcomes coming my way.
I guess you can describe this as a form of “The law of attraction”, for those who are not familiar with this topic I actually have a post on this and I shall put a link below, but essentially I found that the more positive I became about situations that didn’t seem to have positives outcomes, the more they successfully came to pass. Being optimistic has so many benefits and to be fair who wants to store all that anger inside themselves, life is too short to be down all the time.
“Optimism is the madness of insisting that all is well when we are miserable.”
Determination
This can be seen as the ability to continue trying to do something, although it is very difficult.
In life everyone should strive for an attitude of determination in all they do because with every task comes responsibility, bumps and the need for determination to successfully complete it. When you are determined you picture the outcome and develop a strategy to get there, a lot of times we are held back by laziness and procrastination and this leads to failure or settling for less.
So I urge you to not lay back and settle for anything less than you deserve strive for your best and adopt the attitude of determination and direction.
“Desire is the key to motivation, but its determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal - a commitment to excellence - that will enable you to attain the success you seek.”
Forgiveness
This is the act of putting aside the wrong doings of people against you, in other words to stop feeling anger towards someone.
My mother always told me to never go to bed angry at someone, when I was younger I had an argument with a friend of mine in primary school because of something rude she had said to me, then of course I was filled with anger and would not accept her apologies however several times she had tried to I was too stubborn and since then our friendship died, of course I forgave her but not to her face and now I am older I look back at how ridiculous it was and how I spent those days angry at what I may see now as a silly argument.
As you go through life you find that not everything goes your way, there may be people who don’t agree with you, people who offend you intentionally, and instead of holding that in for a long time like I did you just need to let it go and once all that anger in your heart and mind is at ease you will feel a lot better.
"We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies". Martin Luther King, Jr.
